Privacy Policy

This Chrome extension (“Hebcal Zmanim”) displays daily zmanim by requesting public data from Hebcal’s API.

What data we store

The extension stores your preferences locally using chrome.storage.sync:

• ZIP code (as a fallback if geolocation is disabled or unavailable)
• Candle-lighting offset (in minutes)
• Zman method selection (MGA or GRA)
• Tzeit method selection
• Whether to use geolocation

No account, unique identifier, or profile is created by the extension.

Geolocation

If you enable geolocation in the options, the extension will read your device location within the popup only to request times for your coordinates. Location is not transmitted anywhere other than the request to Hebcal and is not retained by the extension.

Network requests

The extension makes read-only requests to https://www.hebcal.com/zmanim, passing either ZIP or latitude/longitude along with the candle-lighting offset. As with any web request, your IP address is visible to the destination server. The extension does not add any personal data to these requests.

Third parties

We do not use analytics or advertising SDKs. The only third party contacted is Hebcal to obtain zmanim data.

Children’s privacy

This extension is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with the updated date.
